Inverness Rowing Club

Morrison Construction Inverness Fours and Small Boats Head
Saturday & Sunday 16th & 17th November 2013

Essential Information for Competitors
Firstly can we encourage 1 member from each competing club (Club Representative) to come to Registration early to collect the new "Registration Pack". These will be available as soon as the registration caravan opens (approx. 9am).

There will be 1 pack per club which will include Bow Numbers, Cloth Back Numbers, Running order / draw, Map of the course and a paper copy of the entry made - there will be space on this form to make crew changes / substitutions.

There will be a deposit required for this pack, based on the number of crews competing for each club (£5 per bow number), which will be returned in full when the "packs" are returned complete at the end of racing.

Should Clubs wish to scratch crews, they must advise Regatta Control as early as possible.

Trailer and Car Parking

Buses must use the Sports Centre car park, which is clearly signposted.

All cars not carrying small boats must be parked at the Rugby Club car park, turn left before crossing the canal. Those cars carrying small boats must park beyond the IRC Boathouse. IMPORTANT ALERT - all drivers, and particularly drivers towing trailers, must drive slowly along the towpath on account of the condition of the surface and number of potholes thereon.

Kindly ensure that no cars or trailers are parked in the turning area in front of the IRC boathouse where essential space is required for the portable toilets, registration caravan and refreshment marquee

Trailers should be located as follows -

On the towpath to the North of Tomnahurich Swing Bridge (turn right after going over the bridge) - George Heriots School BC, Glasgow University BC, Heriot Watt University BC, Strathclyde University BC and St Andrews University BC

Close to the Jacobite Cruises Office
Aberdeen BC, Aberdeen University BC, Robert Gordon's University BC, ASRA

NOTE - Three parking spaces must also be left clear on the immediate south side of the Jacobite Cruises office for the use of their staff vehicles

Towpath before IRC Boathouse
Clyde ARC, Glasgow Schools RC, St Andrew BC

Beyond IRC Boathouse (beside tow path at turning space before locked gate)
Edinburgh University BC, Clydesdale ARC, George Watson's College BC, Dumfries Schools RA, Strathclyde Park RC, Loch Lomond RC, Castle Semple RC and all car topped small boats

Boating

Please have respect for your fellow competitors and arrive at the start in time - it can take some crews more than 45 minutes to row to the start.

Boating times have been included on the draw - it is your responsibility to boat at or before the time allocated. Remember there will be time penalties for those crews late to the start and any boat that has not passed the finish line 45 minutes before the scheduled start of each division will be turned back and will not be allowed to race. Please also note that it also takes approximately "10 minutes" from the pontoons north of the Tomnahurich swing bridge to get to the finish line on the way to the start.

When crews cross the finish line after the end of their race, they must continue rowing on well clear of the finish line to avoid collisions with following crews . NO QUICK TURNING ALLOWED IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC.

Punctuality:
• All boats must have passed the finishing line on their way to the start no later than 45 minutes before the start time. Late departures will be turned back, in fairness to crews waiting at the start.

• On Saturday, crews must arrive and be in their allocated marshalling point 15 minutes PRIOR to division start time: 11:15 for division 1 start at 11:30, 13:45 for division 2 start at 14:00.

• On Sunday, crews must arrive and be in their allocated marshalling point 15 minutes PRIOR to division start time: 10:45 for division 1 start at 11:00, 13:15 for division 2 start at 13:30.

• A 5 second time penalty per minute will be applied to any crew that arrives at their allocated location after the times set out above.

• Late crews may also be sent to the back of the division and start after all other crews

• NOTE: THESE TIMES ARE EARLIER THAN PREVIOUS YEARS TO ALLOW TIME FOR THE MARSHALLS TO ARRANGE THE LARGE NUMBER OF CREWS IN EACH DIVISION

MARSHALLING AT START AREA - SEE NEW DIAGRAMS AT END OF THIS DOCUMENT

To deal with the large number of crews while not shortening the length of the course a new marshalling procedure will be in operation.

All crews are allocated a colour group on the running order that identifies the area that each crew shall wait at before the start:-

• Pink group (lowest numbers) - marshalling point is downstream of the start on the last straight before the start when heading towards the lock gates
• Blue group (middle numbers) - marshalling point is just upstream of the start
• Orange group (highest numbers) - marshalling point is close to the lock gates

Wishing you all a successful weekend (and no time penalties)
